Synopsis
Singapore-based gallery, Confluence Art Space, celebrates the New Year with “Élan”, a solo exhibition by Lim Tze Peng, Singapore’s most celebrated living artist and 2003 Cultural Medallion recipient. From 3 to 26 January 2025, viewers can marvel at a curated selection of 15 paintings and calligraphy pieces by Lim, showcasing his artistic journey across five decades. The show will be held in conjunction with the Singapore Art Week 2025 and the artist’s current solo exhibition, “Becoming Lim Tze Peng”, organised by the National Gallery Singapore. Élan encapsulates Lim’s unwavering energy and enthusiasm for art, qualities that have defined his career and continue to thrive, even at the age of 103.
Élan encapsulates Lim’s unwavering energy and enthusiasm for art, qualities that have defined his career and continue to thrive, even at the age of 103. The highlight of Élan is undoubtedly Singapore River Scene. Painted in 1978, Singapore River Scene is a rare masterpiece, both for its impressive size relative to Lim’s creations during that era and its exceptional level of detail.
