Synopsis

Take a walk through Rowell Road and it is hard to miss Sonia Ong’s hot pink contextual light installation “There is a woman in here but she is not for $ex” (2022) that has intrigued and captured the eyes and phones of tens-of-thousands of passers-by and visitors since January 2023. Sonia B. Ong continues to meditate on sexuality, morality, commerce and context in this free public exhibition open 24 hours on the facade of Baroque House. Depending on the day, t-shirts, coffee, beer and music parties will be held at the front door.

Pass through the pink doors to enjoy ticketed afternoon teas with the artist to talk about the creation of her polarising artwork, hilarious and meaningful interactions she has had with the public since she put up her installation and to see the other works in this series.

For SAW 2025, Sonia Ong will be debuting a theatrical degustation dinner experience that takes one from the primordial womb through the edges of hedonistic sensuality.
