Synopsis

This exhibition pays tribute to Botero’s profound impact on the art world, showcasing a curated selection of paintings and sculptures, each a testament to his superb ability to bridge the playful and the profound. Botero, renowned for his instantly recognizable style known as "Boterismo," redefined conventional aesthetics with his exploration of inflated forms, imbuing his subjects with a unique monumentality. His exaggerated volumes, far from being mere formal exercises, offer a shrewd and often humorous commentary on society, power, and the human condition. Each of his works marries a playful sense of whimsy with deeper reflections on life's complexities – from joy and melancholy to beauty and excess.
