In its 3rd edition, SAW x PAssionArts celebrates SG60 by bringing the arts to the heartlands under the key message of “Building Our SG Together”. This joint initiative by SAW and PAssionArts pairs artists with Community Arts & Culture Clubs (CACCs) in five neighbourhoods across Singapore in the meaningful co-creation of visual art installation distinct to each neighbourhood. Encouraging grounds-up community art movements and arts accessibility through knowledge and resource sharing, volunteers from the CACCs together with residents from their neighbourhoods will work alongside the artists in co-creating the artworks. From Bukit Batok East, Canberra, Kampong Glam, Tampines North, to Mountbatten, the final artworks will address the SG60 themes of solidarity, togetherness in forging a shared future, as well as unity in a shared identity.

With the support from Kampong Glam CACC, the artwork is a culmination of a series of biodiversity and art workshops conducted by Arterly Obsessed in collaboration with Untamed Paths attended by residents of Kampong Glam. Participants attended a guided tour to observe the biodiversity in the neighbourhood, followed by an art making session to document their walk. The community piece also reflects on the SG60 theme of “Building Our Singapore Together” and invites viewers to ponder about the delicate balance between urbanisation and nature conservation in our island home. Working closely with Trio Packaging, the entire installation is made out of cardboard and the main structure is recyclable using eco-friendly HP inks.

With the support from Mountbatten CACC, the National Antiquities Parade is an interactive art installation that invites Singapore Art Week explorers to the Singapore Sports Hub Visitors Centre to restore and paint freshly unearthed clay figurines depicting the last National Day held at the Kallang National Stadium. Residents of Mountbatten, both young and old, have had a unique opportunity to collaborate with professional artists. Together, they have created this "archaeological discovery," commemorating the inspection of the Guard of Honour. Arts Conservator and interdimensional traveller Dr Farook Farkhan from the Temporal Displacement Agency is seeking your assistance. With their unique perspectives and creativity, can contemporary Singaporeans paint the sculptures in the colours of national unity in time for SG60 celebrations? This community-driven participatory arts project is a tribute to Mountbatten's unique contribution to Singapore's nationhood as the only residential area to host National Day parades from 1973 to 2006.

With the support from Canberra CACC, The Textile Paper Lab project is an experimental space that opens up the definition of paper and the paper making process in response to the complex textile waste compositions that we discard. At this SAW x PAssionArts project, Canberra residents joined us in turning their waste into majestic soft sculptures that catch the light and wind in a public space in Canberra Park. Textile Paper Lab is led by artists, designers and sustainability educators. It is a project by the Renew Earth Sweat Shop that creates micro-community spaces for people to gather to learn, to sew and upcycle together.
